The ISPCA held another volunteer training day last weekend, this time on the basics of dog training. We would like to thank Kelley Hynes, our volunteer co-ordinator, and Giles Gildea, one our animal care assistant.
The training day was specifically designed to tackle dog training and assessment. The training had theoretical and practical parts with demonstrations that allowed our volunteers to deal with all types of dogs of different ages and breeds and to deal with a different behaviour issues. Not only is this a great opportunity for our volunteers to improve their handling skills, but it is also a great day for the dogs, as they can learn new behaviours and get a feel for training sessions which will prepare them for life in their new homes. The ISPCA was delighted that over 20 volunteers underwent the whole day of training to help provide the many dogs at the ISPCA National Animal Centre with the correct approach and training.
