Pippa the pug mother is now a well-loved family pet

24 FEBRUARY 2019

During her life on a puppy farm in Myshall, Carlow, Pippa was a breeding mother. In spite of her advanced age, partial deafness and blindness and other underlying health issues, Pippa was used to breed litter after litter of pug puppies.

As a result of the conditions she knew for much of her life, Pippa’s adopters say that to this day she still harbours a fear of puppies, men, and any object resembling a stick.

In spite of this, she is a happy family pet who is best friends with the daughter of the family. She is loving life, going on daily walks and being included on family trips where possible.

“Pippa has learned to swim, and even has the occasional cheeky moment where she’ll run after our two ducks,” said adopter Eva. “But her favourite things to do are to play hide-and-seek around the house, and sunbathe in the garden.”

“Pippa is so well-loved in our family,” Eva added. “We are grateful to the ISPCA for introducing her into our lives.”
