5 DECEMBER 2018
The ISPCA would like to extend a huge Thank You to all of our dedicated and hardworking volunteers this International Volunteer Day.
Volunteers are such a crucial part of the ISPCA team, and the ISPCA is grateful to have 116 dedicated volunteers helping at our Centres. We simply could not operate without this support.
The ISPCA offer a variety of volunteer roles from helping hands-on with the animals in our kennels, cattery and stable areas, to helping us at events and raising vital funds to help the animals in our care.
ISPCA CEO Dr Andrew Kelly said: “The ISPCA could not do our work without the commitment of all of our volunteers. I would like to thank them for their hard work and help. We truly appreciate their time and effort. The care and love shown for the vulnerable animals that come through our Centres goes so much toward helping to rehabilitate those animals that need it most”.
So far this year, our volunteers gave over 4,000 hours of their generous time to support our work! We truly appreciate everything our volunteers do to help the animals in our care. Every role is really important to us and our success, making a real difference for animal welfare.
We are delighted to have three volunteers shortlisted for the Volunteer Ireland Awards 2018 in the Animals & Environment category. The awards will take place on Friday, December 7th, 2018.
Our ISPCA nominees this year are Helen Nolan, and mother-and-daughter pair Jane and Tamsyn Harris. These amazing volunteers give their time every week at the ISPCA National Animal Centre in Keenagh, Longford.
Helen is one of the most regular volunteers at the ISPCA National Animal Centre, having clocked up over 530 hours in 2 years. Not even the “Big Freeze” in March 2018—which left our Centre under a thick blanket of snow—stopped Helen from coming in to help out in our cattery! She is reliable and diligent, and always quick to spot if any of our cats and kittens are under the weather. Thank you, Helen!
Jane and Tamsyn have been volunteering together with the ISPCA for over a year now, and between them have logged almost 400 hours to-date! Jane will take on any task that goes her way, no matter how mucky and has a keen interest in the area of animal behaviour. She is great at handling some of the more nervous dogs that come into our care.
Tamsyn volunteers mostly in our cattery socialising our cats and kittens, and also helps out by walking the many dogs in our care. As with all of our volunteers, animal welfare is hugely important to Tamsyn. She has a lovely way with the animals in our care and knows all of the dogs and cats in our Centre by name! Thank you Jane and Tamsyn!
We would like to celebrate Helen, Jane, Tamsyn and all of our volunteers today, on International Volunteer Day!
From all of us at the ISPCA, a profound THANK YOU for all that you do.Viewed 247 times.
