As a result of on-going development, the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) is recruiting for the following positions:

Ispca Animal Welfare Inspector (Midlands Region)

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the cutting edge of proactive animal welfare in the Midlands region. The successful candidate will be operating predominantly in Counties Kildare, Offaly and Laois and will be required to be based locally.  The position will be initially offered on a two-year contract, based on 35 hours per week.

Essential skills:

  • Good basic level of education, ideally a third level qualification in a related discipline
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Evaluation and assessment skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Tact and diplomacy skills
  • Knowledge of animal care
  • Ability to work independently on own initiative
  • Ability and willingness to represent the ISPCA in the media
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Proof of ability to swim

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of animal welfare issues
  • Knowledge of legislation
  • Animal handling skills, particularly canine, equine and feline
  • Experience in conflict resolution

ISPCA Equine Care Assistant, Longford (6 month contract)

Candidates must have:

  • An excellent knowledge of equine care and stable management
  • Experience caring for and rehabilitating sick, injured and traumatised equines
  • Excellent communication, organisational and administration skills necessary
  • Good customer service skills and experience working with the public required
  •  Must be willing to work as part of a team, based on a seven day rostered system
  • A full clean driving licence is required, plus a licence to tow a horsebox
  • Good basic level of education, ideally a third level qualification in a related discipline
  • Experience operating a tractor/quad for on-going land and grass management
  • Applicants should have experience working within an animal welfare environment and a keen interest in animal welfare
