Read some of the great experiences some of our pets and their new owners have had!
The ISPCA was recently contacted by the HSE regarding a situation in the midlands involving a dog and numerous cats. The elderly owner of the animals had been taken into care and had no family or friends capable of caring for his pets. Inspector Michael Keane investigated the situation accompanied by Valerie Cox from the Pat Kenny Show - Listen here
Michael discovered that the animals, and indeed their owner, had been living in filthy conditions. While the animals had clearly been fed and socialised, many of the cats had symptoms of cat-flu and swollen stomachs indicating heavy worm burdens. They were not neutered and had been allowed to breed indiscriminately resulting in unmanageable numbers and health problems. A total of 12 cats and one dog were removed and taken to the ISPCA National Animal Centre for assessment and rehabilitation.
Inspector Keane commented “This was a sad situation all round. We are pleased that both the animals and their former owner are out of that environment and getting the help that they need”.
