The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is working with a local authority and other welfare organisations to resolve a horrendous dog welfare situation.
Over 100 dogs have been removed from a property where they were living in deplorable conditions. The majority were small furry breeds predominantly Shih tzus. Most were heavily matted and they were also suffering from skin, eye and teeth problems.

The ISPCA was forced to euthanize one dog on veterinary advice due to the severity of its condition and another is likely to undergo surgery to have an eye removed. All will require a period of rehabilitation before being placed for adoption.
