Meet the ISPCA'S newest wards “the three amigos”. These three little ducklings were tragically orphaned when their mother was killed by traffic on the main Midleton to cork road recently. A concerned member of the public contacted the ISPCA when he saw the incident occur. There were initially 5 babies, but it was difficult to find them all on the busy dual carriageway.
"Little ducklings move very quickly through the grassy verge and shrubbery, and it was a painstaking slow rescue to find and rescue these little ones" remarked ISPCA Inspector Lisa O'Donovan who attended the 120 KM speed limit area.
"It’s a very busy and dangerous stretch of road and it was a great relief to get these ones to safety. they are now doing tremendously well. It is misfortunate we were unsuccessful in rescuing the complete family, but to have removed three to safety was a great relief."
The three amigos will remain in the care of the ISPCA under a heat lamp until they are ready for release.
