Read some of the great experiences some of our pets and their new owners have had!
It is with a heavy heart that we must break the news of the sudden passing of our resident potbellied pig Frankie, who had been in the care of the ISPCA for five years.
Frankie was rescued when he was found wandering with barbed wire wrapped around his snout, when he was only around a year old. Frankie received treatment for his wounds and was placed in foster, but unfortunately he could not be contained. As a result he was transported to the ISPCA National Animal Centre, where there is ample wooded areas he could avail of and live out his days in comfort.
Frankie passed away last night after a sudden illness. He was dearly loved by all and will be sorely missed by not only our staff but our dedicated volunteers; especially Linda, who visited him regularly and brought him much sought after treats. Visitors came from far and wide to the centre to visit Frankie and he always proved to be a hit with our school tours and children of all ages.
Our pig had a super character, with a blatant disregard for the fencing. Frankie regularly took off for a wander in search of juicy treats, providing the staff with a challenge of corralling him back into his paddock. You could set you watch by him at feeding time, no one was able to forget to feed Frankie, you could hear him squealing all the way around the centre.
Frankie etched a place in all our hearts & our centre will never be the same without him.
Rest in peace Frankie, we will see you on the other side.
