“The New Cat” book proceeds in aid of the ISPCA

The ISPCA is delighted to accept a cheque of €500 from the proceeds of “The New Cat” a heart-warming picture book beautifully written by Carmel Ui Cheallaigh and vividly brought to life by award winning Illustrator Fintan Taite.

ISPCA Fundraising Manager Ann Howgego said: "This is a charming book taking readers on a journey of an un-wanted cat arriving at a family home, to be taken in, and returned to full health as a much-loved family pet. It should be read to all children so that they understand the importance on showing kindness to all animals.

Author Carmel Ui Cheallaigh said: “We decided to support the ISPCA because of the wonderful work they do, rescuing so many animals from appalling situations. I have a rescued cat myself and wanted to help in some way through educating children about the importance of animal welfare at an early age.

‘The New Cat’ book is available to order from the ISPCA online shop for €8 with €1 from each sale going to support our work and is a great Christmas gift for cat lovers.
