ISPCA Equines

The ISPCA, our Member Societies and other animal welfare organisations throughout the country are dealing with an increased number of horses needing help.  The year 2008 saw a massive increase in reports of equine cruelty, in fact over 440 calls required investigation from the ISPCA Inspectorate.

Casper needs a sweet itch Rug

Casper is a 6 year old 11hh grey gelding .He is a timid pony and suffers from sweet itch, an allergy to midges, which requires careful management. The condition causes intense itching and can cause considerable distress. Due to his small but broad stature, regular sized sweet itch rugs do not fit Casper therefore he will require a specially made to measure rug which will cost €200. We are appealing for donations to help cover the cost or perhaps an individual sponsor to help poor Casper enjoy a stress free summer with his pals in the paddock.

Casper is also looking for a permanent loving home. With time and careful handling this little chap may prove to be a good riding or driving pony. Due to his nervousness he is not suitable for novices or very young children and will only be placed in a home where he will receive on going sympathetic handling. As he was a stallion until recently he cannot be re homed with a mixed group of mares and geldings. He would be happiest with one or two ladies for company!
If you could help either Casper or Dune please do not hesitate to contact Cathy Griffin: Tel:087-9378393    cgriffin@ispca.ie
