Rescue Animal Cottage
Leitrim SPCA is run by Marie Healy with their committee and volunteers. Leitrim SPCA (formally North West Cat Rescue) has been up and running for over four years now. They rehome approx 300 cats and dogs every year from their sanctuary in Carraig on Shannon. Marie and Pat never refuse an animal and have rescued foxes, swans, goats and many other wildlife.
At present they have over forty cats and thirty dogs looking for good homes if you can offer a home to these deserving animals please contact Leitrim SPCA on 07196 46912.
Animals Looking For A Kind Home
On Tuesday the 22nd of July they received a call from a man fishing on the river Florish, they man had seen somebody throw a bag in to the river and on closer inspection he found 13 collie puppies in the bag....only a few weeks old, very wet and cold he brought the pups to Marie who immediately set to work on warming the little mites up. Unfortunately four of the pups didn't make it through the night but the remaining 9 are fighting to survive and Marie feeds them every two hours throughout the night. Maire's own two dogs have decided to play mother and father so the puppies do get that extra bit of care!
